I am also curious as to how DOSGamer's advertising service defines an adult site.
The ad company uses contextual advertising, which means that it scans the text of DOS Gamers Web pages for keywords and
returns ads to the Web page based on what the user is viewing.

They run two programmes one for adult ads, and one for 'normal' ads.

Because there systems detected Adult keywords/content they moved all my advertisimng to the adult network. Meaning I had to remove the adult games to stop their system thinking my website was some kind of porn site.

As far as I am aware I _can_ work around this problem by having a seperate URL. Like adultdosgames.com or whatever, just for the adult games, but it must show the adult advertising!

Any thoughts anyone?

I am for the separate URL.

Can you set up guidelines for what kind of adult advertising is acceptable on your site?

I want dosgamer.com to be G rated. I'm sure Dosgamer has a lot of members who are minors.

It's such a blurred line to draw these days. Children are exposed to much more now than 20 or 30 years ago. A lot of what is common place now would never have been acceptable when I was a kid (Jeez, and I'm only 28!) I think it's a good thing for parents to monitor and restrict what kids are exposed to, and keeping material of an adult nature separate from the regular games certainly would help that.
People can get whatever they want on the internet, and everything has it's rightful place. Porn doesn't need to be on a site like this. I was looking for WAV sound files for my computer the other day, and one link unexpectedly sent me to a porn site. (Bear in mind that my kids often like to sit and watch me on the computer, fortunately at the time they weren't)
I really think it just comes down to each individual's sense of decency and morality.

NO PORN FOR KIDS!

Personally, I miss the adult games.  Some of them (especially Leisure Suit Larry) are awesome.  I'm glad I downloaded them previously, but I think it's a shame to deny everyone else of pixilated porn  XD

The leisure suit larry games aren't explicit, theyre not pornographic. They are suggestive and have an adult theme but they're by no means graphic pornography. (and as far as I'm aware they're still available on here)

I'm putting together a small website just for the adult games, it will be a seperate URL, (advertising conditions) but it will essentially be a DOS Gamer clone.

I have to have it cleared by advertisers first though.
