I tried running both Gauntlet 1 and 2...

Gauntlet 1 gets me to the character select screen, but I can't select anything.

Gauntlet 2 shows the title screen and plays music, but when I press a button, the screen goes black but the music still plays. Then I can't do anything...

There may be some small thing I am over looking, but I cant figure out what it is...
